Family

Family vacations bring to light lots of things about family.

My parents are really good people.  Seriously, really good.  They are generous and compassionate.  They are completely unselfish when it comes to their children.

The flight we were trying to get on the way home from Hawaii was full.  Flying standby on a weekend is a joke.  Seriously, never try it. We had to purchase confirmed seats for the flight back the next night.  The next night, that flight was cancelled.  My parents had taken Marley and had driven 6 hrs. to meet us.  It's no "walk in the park" to be in a car with Marley.  I have to gear myself up to even take a 15 min. car excursion with her.  So, that was a big deal in itself.  Not to mention that she had stayed with them the entire week and totally wore them out!!

When we called to say we didn't get on the flight, they switched directions and drove all the way to Phoenix and then turned around and drove home.  I don't even know how many hours of driving they put in between those 2 days, but it was a lot!

After driving all that way, my mom calls to see what they can do on our house while they are there.  What?!  Seriously.  While we were gone, our painter had come to finish our back room.  He sanded and then painted and put up baseboards and casings.  There was dust and dirt everywhere.  My mom spent hours cleaning.  Then they went grocery shopping and filled our fridge.

My parents are good people.

  4. Congrats on the new baby! He's beautiful! I've been bad on catching up on blogs (I'm reading this at 3:40 a.m. while working in the NICU...that seems like the only time I've had to read blogs in the past few months!) and feel bad that I haven't congratulated you yet! I'm so excited for you guys...and Marley looks like a pro at the big sister thing. Too cute! Yohanna
