No Baby - Yet

According to my baby ticker I have 16 days until my due date.  Marley was 14 days early, but I'm not planning on going early again.  For one thing I'm sick.  Not fun - especially being nearly 9 months pregnant.

I think the sickness is clouding my brain.  Friday morning Marley & I headed out the door to Ikea.  I really like that store, but it is a trap.  I can never get out of there.  They were having this blow-out on some bar stools and I decided to pick us up a pair.

We get loaded up in the car.  I actually had put Marley's car seat on the other side of the car because I was having issues with the seat belt.  We start driving down the freeway and Marley opens her door!  I about freaked.  Her arms were not in the seat belt.  She often wiggles them out and the child lock was not flipped on that side because she's usually on the other side of the car.  There was tons of traffic and all I could do was pray one of those desperate prayers that she would not go flying out the car door.

Anyway, after I nearly have a heart attack, we get to Ikea.

We rush in (30 minutes after it had opened) and as we're riding the elevator up to get our stools I remember that Marley had decided to wear underwear this morning.  No, she's not potty-trained.  So, we take a detour to go potty just to be safe.  I had been in such a hurry to get inside the store I hadn't put any diapers in my bag and I thought I could hurry and get the stools and get back to the car in time to put a diaper on her before she had an accident.

We get up to the floor with the stools and they are sold out.  All 1,000 of them.  Marley is walking around beside me while I am looking at their other stools and she runs into a table and starts crying.  I pick her up and she wets all down me, herself and the floor.  So much for prevention.  She must not have emptied her bladder because she had literally gone 2 minutes before that happened and it was not a small accident.  All I could think was that after being a mom for 2 years, I should not have been such a ditz about these things.

I think I will be laying low for the next couple of months.  Who knows what kind of exciting day we might have once this little guy is outside the womb and I actually have to think about his safety and well-being as well!

  1. How scary that must have been when Marley opened the door! I remember doing that when I was about 3 or so and being able to see the road so clearly passing under me as I hung on to the open door for dear life. Yikes!

Gotta love 2 year old potty accidents. Gotta love an IKEA mad-dash for a sale item. Put them together and that's a funny story (to us but probably not for you:( )

  2. I laughed so hard at this. In kind of a "wow, that does not sound like fun" kind of way. Hang in there.

  3. Oh the life of a mom. :) Just wait until your little guy is around and you're sleep deprived. We've had more than one blowout and/or potty-training accident where I've had nothing.

Good luck with your delivery. I hope everything goes great.

  5. I can't decided whether to cry for you or laugh really hard! Maybe that's why me and my poor girls are hermits...I KNOW that such a situation or worse will happen. I'm excited for that little boy to make his entrance!! Take care of yourself and good luck!

  6. oh Hydes!!! I totally feel for you! It's pregnancy brain combined with it's-almost-time brain - not a good combo. Just before Corynn bad thing after bad thing happened to me when i'd go out, so i made myself homebound so i wouldn't hurt me or my kids! Hang in there!

  7. Lexi seriously did that just two days ago! Talk about FREAK OUT, but I wasn't on the free way...just Main St.

I'm sorry about the pee pee...and the stupid sold out stools.

I am really mad that you didn't show us your super cute 9 month preg belly. We haven't seen your belly for a long time! I really hope that little man decides to come soon...and that it's smooth sailing. You deserve it.

I'll be waiting for a call about the babe!!!!

  8. It's so much fun being a mom. It's hard enough to find an exit at Ikea, even harder when you are soaked in someone elses bodily fluids. YAY!
    Hang in there!
By the way, I'm right around the corner if you ever want to drop off Marley while you run errands.

  9. Why-oh-why does it have to happen to an already mentally and physically weary woman??? I wish I knew.

    Hang in there!

  10. I agree with Jen. I think being pregnant messes with our brain power. Just know you are not alone! I have had my share of heart attacks and potty accidents. No fun.

  11. If it makes you feel better, sometimes I'm like that even when I'm not pregnant. Those are the good stories you laugh about down the road!

  13. Heidi you make me laugh! Oh man, marley and Kamrie sound like two peas in a pod. Seriously. Do you remember? Can't wait for your little buddy to arrive. Just remember, the adjustment to two is way easier than the adjustment to one. It gets easier every day. We miss you guys.

Did we tell you yet that we're going to Arizona for two months next year for an away rotation in scottsdale? We can't wait to meet up with you two. Game nights and play dates here we come! ;)
