Harry Potter Book 7 -- A great ending!

There are a few things that have stayed with me from my childhood years to my adult years. One of those is that I get totally engrossed in the books and movies that I read and watch. So engrossed, that during that 2 hour movie or book, those characters are real to me. Jared is constantly trying to reason with me when I am scared out of my mind during a suspenseful movie. "You know Tom Hanks lives because he also plays in 'The Terminal'" etc.

Here's a funny story. Jared and I were watching "Monsters Inc"--obviously very fictional. The monsters' energy is derived from the screams of children. Anyway, there is a scene where there are tons of doors hooked to zip-lines going all different directions. The monster is trying to find the correct door. He looks down and sees the door and leaps across all these zip lines of doors and catches the door he needs--a totally UNBELIEVABLE leap. Without thinking I say, "No way!" Jared could not stop laughing. He couldn't believe that to me everything else in this cartoon movie was believable, but that leap was just taking it too far!!

I made fun of one of my friends in college suggesting "Harry Potter". I told them it was a children's book. I soon found myself layed up in bed after back surgery and needing lots of reading material to take my mind off my situation. (There are times that it pays to get engrossed in books!) I caved and read "Harry Potter". It was SO GOOD! And can I just say that they have gotten better and better. I finally finished number 7 and feel a little realieved--it was intense. It was the most perfect ending! So, if you haven't tried out "Harry Potter", you really need to give it a chance.

  1. Wow, I am proud of your patience in finishing Harry Potter! I could not function until I finished it when it came out this summer. I also really loved how it ended, it made me really content with not having any more books come out.
I noticed on your book list you are wanting to read the Twilight books. I just got the first one of them but haven't started it yet. Everyone has been saying they are good. We will have to read them together!

  2. you guys will have to let me know what you think of Twilight... I've been pushed and prodded by several different people, but just cannot bring myself to delve into a story involving vampires... I just can't do it...yet. Let me know.
