How to Avoid Cabin Fever

There is a great pizza joint up here called Mooses Tooth.  Yummy.  Tonight was our 2nd time eating there and let me say that it's the only place we've gone out to eat since arriving here.  It's sometimes just not worth it to take Marley to a restaurant...I should have brought one of our babysitters along on our Alaska Adventure...but she actually did pretty well tonight.

As we were turning into our driveway on our way home from Moose Tooth, we spotted 2 moose!  It seriously is crazy that they come wandering around in the city.  They were eating the leaves off some new landscaping near the building next to ours :)

It is already starting to get cold and I've been brainstorming on how to keep Marley and myself from getting cabin fever.  Today we ventured off to the public library and went to story time.  It did her good being around kids her age.

Tomorrow I'm going to go to the Alaska Club to get a gym membership.  They have an awesome daycare there with an inside and outside area.  I also really like the people that run it.  I look at everything differently now--to me a gym is only as good as its daycare :)  I checked out the YMCA here as well.  First of all, Alaskans are big into swimming.  Each gym I went to wanted to show me their pool.  To me that obviously isn't a big deal coming from Phoenix.  At the Y, we had to go through the lady's locker room and through the showers to get to the pool.  There were probably 15 middle-aged naked women showering that I had to slide past to get a glimpse of their pool.  Let's just say it wasn't an image that I wanted stuck in my head :)  The deciding factor, however, was the daycare.  Small & dingy is probably that best way I can describe it.  So, the Alaska Club it is.  Let's just hope they give me a 2 month membership---last time I stopped in they told me the shortest term they would consider was 3 months.

  1. For some reason my boys love to get babysat. I think because they never do. I went to Ikea the other day and Gabe was to small to go in the babysitting area. They both walked away crying....I want to go there mom. Mom was crying, I want you to go there to!

We are starting to get some cool weather, I had to wear pants today. Lets just say, I'm not to ezcited for pants.

  3. Cabin fever is the reason I dread the cold wintry months...after the holidays anyway. It sounds like you're doing well Hyde. I've got to get on facebook and check out your pics. Good job for being a supportive adventurous wifey.
