Candlelight Capers

Candlelight Capers is an annual event that has grown to become one of the primary fundraising events for Banner Good Samaritan Medical Center. This year the theme was "The Golden Hour".

The funds raised will be used towards trauma and outreach services offered by Good Sam.

Jared was explaining that the hour after a traumatic accident/injury is called the golden hour because the care provided in that hour is the most important deciding factor in the patients survival. I was surprised to learn that the manikins used in training for trauma services can cost over $200,000 each. There was a silent auction, a live auction, open bar, dinner, and dancing. Jared's program gave each of the residents $225 to use in the silent auction. Some of the residents came out with some fun prizes. However, we didn't get the prize that we bid on :( The live auction was exciting and interesting. A golden retriever puppy was sold for $7,000, various small vacation packages were sold for large amounts, and direct donations were offered ($15,000 being the largest).
