Residency -- Week 1
Jared started his program last week Tuesday and is taking his first call day today. So far he likes his program. He is going to be VERY busy. He'll be on-call every 4th day and will only get 4 days off a month.
I was pretty optimistic about quickly making friends out here with people in our ward and with the other resident's spouses. My first disappointment came when I attended our ward. No play groups, no residents, nobody in my position. I am hoping that the young moms were all just out of town. My second disappointment came when we went to a surgery resident BBQ and I found that most of the other residents do not have spouses, or even signifigant others. The one that is married has a wife who is also a professional.
Good luck, Jared, in your residency. We hope you survive! Heidi you're going to make lots of friends, even if they are older than your grandparents!
ReplyDeleteYou do a great job on the blog. We've got to jump on the bandwagon & figure how to start one.
ReplyDeleteTried calling, but old # was disconnected. Glad to know Jared is recovering, just in time to get "burned" by surgery. Which refining fire is worse? Good luck to both of you. -- Gassins
Heidi, hang in there. It can take a while to make some friends (I know not usually for you). A good idea, if there really aren't any other young mothers, is to go to a playgroup from the other wards. I hope you find someone soon. I know it is hard with a residency and it makes things easier if you have a good friend you can rely on. I wish I could be that friend there for you.
ReplyDeleteWhat the??? I know I've been a little busy lately, but I'm here!! Come play!!
ReplyDeleteGood Luck to Jared and to you! Gary is starting his own business and lately I kinda feel like he has started his residency or something per I don't see him as much as I used to. Like the other comments, you will make friends in no time. I highly recommend seeking a play group in another ward in your stake, that will just lead to many more ways of meeting moms. Grandma's are fun too! We have a lot in our ward, and they like to spoil the little ones.
ReplyDeleteGood Luck with everything in residency. I am sorry Jared is so busy. It will all pay off one day right? :) It looks like you guys have been doing some fun things.
ReplyDeleteGood luck Jared! We're so glad you're feeling better- and looking better. Hang in there Heidi. I know you'll find some moms and good friends. You have to be enjoying all the summer weather, eh?
